First of all I wanted to thank you. I am a nurse I often try to go the extra mile for my patients and not just "do my job". I want you to know that I really appreciate you, what you do, and how you do it. You could just show up for class, teach, and give phone consultations, but I get the impression that you truly care about my dog and how we teach her as much as we do. That really means a lot to me. Many times I have been at my wit's end and in tears over her behavior. YOU are the voice of reason for me; each of my frazzled moments you tell me just the right thing to make my thinking straight again and really give me hope. As most of her young life was spent living in and moving around to various shelters, it was understood that my family and I were adopting a dog that would have special needs, and boy did we pick a needy one! Tasha came to us with serious fear issues, which led to many more problems. Fortunately, I was introduced to J9’s K9s. Janine, Stephanie and Becky all helped us get through the fear issues that Tasha dealt with. Today she is playing with toys, allowing strangers to pet her and is even trying really hard to ignore strange dogs. I have worked hard to help Tasha gain confidence. Together on Nov. 22, 2005, Tasha and I took the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, and to the excitement of many, Tasha passed!!! We have since taken up the sport of Agility, while continuing to take classes at J9's K9s. I feel so blessed to have been placed with this dog, and I know that we will be having fun together for years to come.

While I was walking Ruby G. the other day, I had her sit while we waited for the signal to change so we could cross the street. A woman in a car shouted over to me, "Are you a dog trainer?" I was so flattered!!! Thank you for teaching me how to train my dog.

We just wanted to thank you for helping us to get our puppies off on the right foot. Before taking your class, we had never heard of a recall word. We now unfortunately know the importance of it. The other morning while I was getting ready for work, I heard the puppies bark while they were playing in our front yard. When I stepped outside, I saw a coyote getting ready to jump into the yard where the puppies were. I said their recall word and both puppies turned on a dime and ran right to me inside of the house. I was so scared, yet grateful at the same time! We are looking forward to learning more in our next class.

Hi Janine:

My dog Sophia and I are J9sK9s' clients; we just graduated from the Tuesday night beginners' class and we'll be signing up for the intermediate. I must write to tell you about your wonderful trainers; particularly Becky Chadwick (who worked with me at my Tuesday classes) and Stephanie (my holiness), who works with me during my much-anticipated one-on-one sessions. Not only have I learned so much from Becky and Stephanie, they have each far surpassed what I would believe their duties to be. They are true trainers, they don't simply teach commands: they listen, they encourage, they praise the owner [all of which have definitely kept me not only sane, but still a dog owner!], and they full-heartedly strategize and problem solve; finally, and this bears repeating, they listen.

Stephanie has spent hours, and hours, and hours with Sophia and me. I am so thankful to her for her guidance; I simply COULD NOT have done it without her - unequivocally.

Thanks to Stephanie and Becky's guidance, I see obvious, continual progress on a daily basis. I just had to take time out of my crazy schedule to tell you that I am utterly and thankfully impressed with them.

Hi Janine, Stephanie and Becky -

We took classes in 2005 in preparation for our move to Wisconsin. The three classes that we took have been the one of the most helpful and successful investments we made into our new life.

Emily made the car trip without a problem. Everyone tells us how well mannered she is whether at home or as a guest in someone else’s home. She stays close when we are in familiar territory and is good on leash when we explore new places.

We purchased a house with 6.75 acres and a creek in Central Wisconsin. The dog who refused to get in the swimming pool in California is a little creek rat always exploring the banks. I just wanted to send our thanks for guiding us to be responsible and aware pet owners. You have provided us with the skills to continue our training of Emily (and us) even in our new home.

Anyway just want to tell you about little Rocky. He was great during the fireworks, just lay around on the sofa and could care less. He even went outside a couple of times and if it got too loud he would just come back in normally.

Stephanie, I wanted to share a success story for you and your great teaching!!!

Over the weekend we were walking Nemo and one of our neighbor's dogs got out and was running in the street. My neighbors were both out in the street trying to retrieve their dog. Their dog saw Nemo coming and of course came towards us, so the owner said to my younger son, "Can you grab him by the collar for us?". Meanwhile, I had Nemo completely focused on me and my delicious treat and NOT their dog. We grabbed a hold of the dog so my neighbors could get him back inside of their gate and one of them said, "You have such a beautiful dog! And so well trained!" My children were so happy and we spoke about how Nemo has his emergency word so if that ever happened to us, we would say, "Nemo HERE!"

Thank you for all of your hardwork as our teacher. You are a great teacher!

J9’s K9s has been a wonderful way to strengthen the bond between my dog and me and to make training, games, and “life rewards” a part of our daily lives. Lillie was a mature 6-year-old when I was referred to you for help with a behavior issue. We had already been through obedience training elsewhere, so I was skeptical. I thought we already knew it all. But boy, was I wrong! Not only did we build on what we already knew while working on Lillie’s problem areas, but we also we learned tons of new skills, tricks, and training techniques and had great fun in the process. Soon we were signing up for classes, and continued through the Advanced Fun and Games Class. The results have been incredible. We look forward to every session, and I can guarantee you, we’ll be back for more!
